The Oyster Lady

Katy Davidson is an oyster evangelist and adventuress, known as The Oyster Lady. Her passion has seen her converting thousands of oyster doubters to lovers at numerous food festivals and events. She skilfully blends gastronomic joy, with humour, ethics and sustainability, to highlight all that eco-hero oysters have to share. She has spent years campaigning passionately for food; In 2006 she became the youngest leader of a Slow Food group in the UK, heading it up in Cornwall where she brought in younger generations founding the Youth Food Movement UK in 2007.

Curating and headlining oyster-specific tastings, masterclasses, catering, festivals and events she is currently putting together the inaugural London Oyster Week; a city-wide celebration of oysters at various venues, raising funds for oyster education and restoration. Her Oyster Academy teaches hands-on skills and oyster culture in a similar way to wine.

She runs an occasional pop-up restaurant, Amity, which got to No 1 on TripAdvisor in Newquay within 3 months of its first residency.

A keen traveller, sports fishing junkie, hunter and horsewoman, Katy never shies away from stepping off the beaten track in pursuit of wild and unique adventures.  Follow Katy @The_Oysterlady
